Bikes & frames - As we move to bike & frame updates, please understand that the following frames & bikes are allocated to our stocking dealers first. To purchase one of these products, please review our Salsa stocking dealer list and contact them for availability and final pricing.

Spearfish bikes & framesets

We receeived framesets for bike production as well as a few for frameset only sales.  These things look fantastic.  ALL of the Spearfish bikes & frames are allocated to Salsa stocking dealers.  We plan to start shipping complete bikes to dealers later this week!  Oh and if you missed it, check out Bike Magazine's Bible of Bike Tests as the Spearfish got a great review there.

Mukluk bikes & framesets

We finished off the last of our parts for Mukluk complete bikes. Those are allocated and shipping to a few dealers. We are also shipping frame only to dealers. Again, please contact one of our Salsa stocking dealers for availability and pricing info. Our next shipment of frames & parts for complete bikes will be arriving and shipping in mid-late February. Too late you say?  Well...Just remember that the Mukluk isn't just a snow season bike. You'd be amazed at what and where you can go with a Mukluk.

New Salsa Casseroll

We received our first shipment of framesets as well as frames & parts of bike production. Some frames will start shipping to dealers that pre ordered this week. Bike production starts next week. Handspun already has the wheels built for us.  Note, ALL bikes are presold and allocated to Salsa stocking dealers. Again, please contact one of our stocking dealers for availability and pricing information.

New Salsa Fargo

New Salsa Fargo frames are in transit. The first frames arriving in late January are for bike production. Bikes will start shipping possibly the last week of January, but more likely the first week of February. Framesets will be shortly after that.

Ok...That's enough for today.  Next up, Salsa titanium updates.  Look for another post later this week or next Monday on Salsa titanium frames & bikes.

I think Captain Bob just fainted…..

Awesome news!

captain bob | January 17th, 2011

Sure did!  Spearfish and I have a lot of fun trips planned.

captain bob | January 17th, 2011

I want my Spearfish shipped with a green top cap please!  :-)

MG | January 17th, 2011

Oh, nice… Conveniently, I have a bike coming that was made for those minimalist racks… I need to get some of those on the way.

Dang.  It’s like my birthday moved from October to January! Or perhaps Christmas came twice. Either way, it’s pretty good.

Jason | January 17th, 2011

Yes, I will require green top cap too! ;)

Ben Bolin | January 17th, 2011

The Rack Lock seat post collar is an excellent idea.  Very cool!

Errin | January 17th, 2011

Those stem caps are pretty cool. I think I have a project in mind that one of those will look great on.

DanK | January 17th, 2011

Are the Fargo bikes and frames for stocking dealers only, or will non-stocking dealers be able to get these as well??

JK | January 17th, 2011

When will complete Spearfish(es) be available to non-stocking dealers? I can’t wait to throw a leg over this bike!

lost | January 17th, 2011

Can you provide better link to the Bike Magazine review of the Spearfish? I followed the link you provided and I could not find any reviews for Salsa, let alone a review for the Spearfish. What a terrible site!

Gnat | January 17th, 2011

@Dan K - The frames arriving end of January for bike production will be for dealer only.  At the moment, we may have some Fargo framesets available to non stocking dealers later in Feb.

JK - The Spearfish frames arriving are 100% for Salsa stocking dealers.

Gnat | January 17th, 2011

Lost - The magazine I mentioned just went on sale. There is no direct link to the article yet so all I could do was link to the bike mag site. I picked up the magazine this weekend at REI. I’ve also seen it at bookstores and bike shops that sell Bike Magazine. That’s all we’ve got right now.

DanK | January 17th, 2011

@Gnat - thanks! I sure hope my LBS can get a frame in for me pronto ;)

jp | January 17th, 2011

I’m putting in my order for a Casseroll tomorrow!

Love the top caps and water bottles!  Are the bottles made with recycled (i.e. not virgin) #5 plastic?  Are they melamine, phthalate, and BPA-free?  It would be a plus for me (and for the earth) if they were.  If Salsa is unsure how/where they could make these, please let me know.  I can put Salsa in touch with the CEO of a major U.S.-based, eco-friendly plastics brand that might be able to help with this.

I hope Salsa Claus’s elves have been busily working on a Ti Pistola…

Marko | January 17th, 2011

Guys, wii you post here when Spearfish frames are shipping to distributors? Gotta have me one.  Thanks!

JimC | January 17th, 2011

Spearfish. Gotta have one. That thing is killer!!!

jp | January 17th, 2011

Wanted to add that a blue top cap on the new Cass Complete would look really nice, and might go some ways towards making up for the now gone steel, painted-to-match stem.

Dermatologist | January 17th, 2011

All your new stuff looks awesome!  I love the salsa Fargo frame.  I also love the minimalist frames.  They look great and are functional!! Gotta get a new bike so I can use one! Dermatologist

I Want a Spearfish | January 18th, 2011

Will a complete Spearfish be available to non-stocking bike shops? There’s no local stocking dealers near me.

Craig | January 18th, 2011

Any word on vaya titanium?

agl | January 19th, 2011

looking good!

any word on the 2011 Vaya steel framesets? QBP says 2/25 for a 57cm. that pretty accurate?

jp | January 20th, 2011

Salsa’s top caps represent 3 of the 4 elements the human body is made of, according to Buddha: fire (red fire), air (blue owl), and earth (green tree).  The 4th element is water.  I’d suggest using either a pink fish (for a feminine touch?) as a top cap for water, or else a silver spearfish/marlin.  You’ll then have an end cap for fire, air, earth AND water.  These are also four basic things one is sure to encounter while doing Adventure by Bike.

R.I.P. Casseroll SS. Salsa seemed to give up on the old spec pretty quickly, or did it just not sell? Now they have their dedicated touring bike. Salsa is becoming famous for the great old bikes that went to pasture ( La Raza, La Cruz, Las Cruces, now the Casseroll…)

Michael King | January 24th, 2011

Post more pics of the casseroll paint job!  :)

Ray | January 25th, 2011

Can you give more details about the assembly stands/trolleys used to build up the MukLuk. Cheers

Kid Riemer | January 25th, 2011

Ray, they are ‘plastic’ carts that the warehouse here uses for some order picking. The bike building department has done some modifications. Soft foam panel added to top of cart so parts don’t get nicked up or scratched. Addition of two bike hanging hooks to hold wheels on outside of cart. Addition of a Park Tool floor stand (mounted to lower shelf of cart, up through a hole cut in top shelf of cart. Hope that helps.

Ace Sievert | January 25th, 2011

I see you have done away with the XXL Fargo frame. Was really hoping to get one and build it up for some adventures but the XL just isnt big enough for me(6’6). Are you guys planning on making more in that size? Come on, show us tall guys some love. Thanks.

Short Girl | January 26th, 2011

@Ace - as someone on the other side of that fit curve, I feel your pain. I’m 5’1” and so badly wish there was a Fargo that could fit me. Sigh.

JSGMN | February 4th, 2011

It looks like your Cronomoto Grande 29er fork is out of stock pretty much everywhere.  Any word on when these will be available again?

aaron | February 12th, 2011

Too bad about the Pistola, loved the sloping top tube, taller head tube for less stack, but alas all sold out if 49cm….oh well maybe 2013…

Luciano | February 20th, 2011

Hi Gnat,
first my compliments for this best frame 29er, I am a great
appasionate of mtb and I want buy the Spearfish frame -size SMALL-
in Europe, but each seller-that I know ,almost 4 and CBO in the States- says that the frame will be sent from you and sold after june or julie,it is true ?
Where can I buy this frame( Small or Medium size ) ? If I wait the summer ,it is too late, because in Italy it is very hot to race or simply ride the bike in summer !
Thanks a lot for your answer.
