My wife was impressed with the Verizon TV commercial where the guy rides his bike around San Francisco and then shows his girlfriend/wife the map of his route and it is in the shape of a heart (ahhhhh), so I decided to plan a special ride and surprise her.
Most of the streets in my area are a grid pattern, so I decided that I would try to write her name. I started by printing out a map and penciling in a route. Once I had that dialed, I wrote up cue cards.
I finally had a decent day to ride I left my house and headed for the start point. Once I got to my starting point, I hit go on my Strava app and headed off on my route. It was kind of fun, having a different route and zigzagging through neighborhoods that I normally don’t ride through. After getting to the finish, I stopped Strava and headed home, hoping that it worked.
Low and behold it did, and my wife was thrilled! This didn’t take a long time, nor was it out in the woods, but it was an adventure for me. Performance art by bike!

I’m the buyer for Salsa and when I’m not staring at spreadsheets, I like to ride bikes, any kind, anywhere. I like to take the road or trail that I have never been down and see where it goes. The band would like to thank: Katy, Bram, Lake Superior, Duluth, craft beer, Low, potatoes, Minnesota, cheap Mexican beer, The Marshall Islands, Gin, Jack Kerouac, The Big Lebowski, Semsational, avocadoes, Copper Harbor, Ernest Hemingway, the outdoors, and The Netherlands.
