A long weekend of riding
Wow, what a weekend. I must say it was one of the best in recent memory. It had it all. Family. Friends. Food. Riding.
Friday was filled with surprises. I drove to the trail head and forgot my darn shoes. I was so mad. Thankfully, when I got home from work, late I might add, my wonderful wife said "It is so nice, you have to go ride." So, I suited up and rode my Dos to Leb. I decided I would try a power work out. I can't believe I said that, but I just wanted to see what I could do. It's been a while since I've thought this way. I usually just ride. I challenged myself to ride two full laps in my big ring. I made it and to be honest, it just seemed effortless.
Saturday, I was sore as all get out from Friday's power workout, but I had another fun ride planned. Guitar Ted and his wife were in town. We had a ride at Leb planned with a few of the Salsa Amigos. Katie, Horkey and Blake showed up and we turned a few fun laps with GT. I think he had fun. It was pretty cool to see a ride with five Salsas, 3 Dos' and 2 Moto's. Afterward, we had a few other friends over for some good food and drink.

After resting Sunday, I ended up with a hall pass on Monday. So I figured I should get out and ride the new trail I mentioned in Friday's post. I made the trip to Savage and turned my first laps at the new Murphy. I really didn't know what to expect. I had high expectations as Murphy has some serious steep climbing in parts of the park. In fact, I packed two bikes into my car because I didn't know how smooth, or rough, or steep the new trail would be. I ended up riding my El Santo and had a blast. Murphy has a bit of everything in it....except climbing. Drats. I was stoked about the varied terrain and surroundings. It certainly was fun to look at. It's really pretty tight right now. A little soft too. I ended up riding 3 lap on the expert loop and headed out. All in all, I got another 24 miles of fresh dirt. Sorry, no pictures.
For those counting, that was about 55 miles of dirt this long weekend plus some additional road miles to and from the trails. I know some of you did that in one ride, but hey, I'm improving so I'm really, really happy with this amount.
Keep riding and have a great week
Jason
