Bikes and Boards…

Bikes, Bikes, and more Bikes. With the shadow of the 2007 Interbike tradeshow still looming we all have the latest 2008 bike bling on the mind, except it seems for me. Don’t get me wrong I’m a total bike homer just like the rest in Salsa land…but I also am a glutten for Snowboarding and its almost time to shred some serious pow. The level of anticipation is so high for me right now its not even funny. I’ve thought about strapping in and taking a ride down the couch only to bust out a giant grab onto the living room floor, but my lady gave me a look that put a stop to that quicker than you can say super pipe. I guess it probably wasn’t that good of an idea anyway. With incredibly “stupid” stunts out of the question, I’m left to spend countless hours daydreaming about what is to come. So… I need some assistance to give my flailing vision some focus. Here is where you come in. If I were to make one road trip to a mountain type resort in the continental U.S. Where should I go and why? Let me hear your thoughts Salsa faithful. My snowy fun filled future rests in your hands. In the meantime I’ll spend an insane amount of time waxing my board to perfection and rocking out to the new Haste the Day record…a must have by the way.

I’11 second, third, whatever about coming to SLC. All the goods plus at the end of the day you are not stuck in an overpriced “mountain town”....you can still do a dive bar crawl downtown by bike.

Snowbird, UT…no question the best snow and terrain. Check it out and you will be convinced.

I gotta say Utah is PRIMO!!! Used to live in Minnesota, now live in CO.  Skip Colorado, very crowded, very $$$$.  I skied Snowbird, Alta, Powder Mountain, and Snowbasin in UT last year.  Of the 6 days 4 were spent in at least knee deep pow.  Snowbird and the other bigguns in UT do get lots if traffic though, so I’d try a smaller resort such as Solitude or Powder Mountain.  They get so much snow down there it’s hard to make a bad choice.

Stowe, VT.  Not as hyped up or expensive (though no longer inexpensive) as Vail or others, and there’s been millions spent in the past 3 years on renovations.  Lot’s of tradition, and beautiful scenery.  Oh, and did I mention great skiiing?
