“When I first saw the Salsa Fargo, complete with 27.5+ tires, I have to admit that the combination of high-volume plus tires and drop bars had me scratching my head. But after loading the bike down with three days’ worth of camping gear and supplies, it all started to make sense.”
-Bicycling.com – March 2017
“For those who’ve ridden a Fargo, the geometry is pretty consistent with past iterations. It continues in the tradition of long distance comfort and climbs meandering switchbacks effortlessly. The addition of plus tires simply adds to its range and capability.”
-Bikepacking.com – July 2016
“I didn’t get to ride it nearly as much as I wanted to (right on across the state and beyond), but the little bit of dirt and gravel I did experience left me impressed.”
-Bicycle Times – July 2013

“More than a year has passed and the Fargo project has been one of the most rewarding bikes to ever grace my quiver. From coffee runs to shredding singletrack, this bike has delivered. Not just delivered, it’s been a blast. One bike to rule them all? I think so.”
-Expedition Portal – June 2013
“I used the Fargo 2 as a commuter, a mountain bike, and a bike- packing off-road tourer. It performed well in each environment.”
-Bicycle Times – December 2013
“This is a bike that doesn’t neatly fall into any category. It can be many things to many riders. The only thing that holds it back is a lack of imagination.”
-Mountain Bike Action – April 2012
“On moderate trails and dirt roads where you need to haul gear and go long, this one-of-a-kind mountain bike has it made.”
-GearJunkie – May 2011
“The bottom bracket sits higher than a typical touring bike’s, but lower than that of an all-out mountain bike. This compromise creates a stability with agility that is one of the bike’s standout features.”
-BikeOvernights – February 2012
“If you could only have one bike, for whatever reason, this would be the bike to have. Short of racing, a change of tyres is enough to make the Fargo capable of pretty much any kind of riding. I'd have no qualms about completing a road century on it, or an mountain bike enduro, or a backwoods tour.”
-Road.CC – April 2011
“While it may not be a master of any one thing, it certainly is a skilled jack of all trades.”
-Dirt Rag – July 2009
“The Fargo absolutely shines on fire roads, dirt paths, gravel roads, and the like.”
-TwentyNineInches – June 2009
“Big wheels, commanding ride: this do-it-all bike won us over”
-BikeRadar – 2009
“With six bottle cages (including two on the rigid forks), rack and mudguard mounts front and rear, and masses of mud clearance even with 2.4in tyres, the Fargo certainly ticks all the long- distance rough trail boxes.”
-BikeRadar – 2009
