Churning Your Turns

I do admit, skiing has taken the back seat in recent years since I first jumped on a fat bike, but that means there is no better time than now to re-explore my forgotten passion, and explore the unknown of combining two activities that I love. This past weekend I went on an eye-opening 25 mile, 6 hour, multi-sport tour in the Crested Butte backcountry with a good friend of mine. It included the standard trials and tribulations that one might encounter on an unknown trip, and of course lessons that will last a lifetime. I’m not sure why it took so long for me to combine biking and skiing, but I’m eager for more multi-sport adventures, whatever the season.

I’ve always had a bike since I was a kid, riding the dirt jumps in the park behind my house. It was not until 2010 when I finally got on a mountain bike again. Things kinda took off in 2012 when a friend and I took on the Colorado Trail in 10 days. It was an eye-opening experience that lead me to take on the Arizona Trail Race 300 in 2013 – my first bikepacking race. Basically, after that, the rest is history.
