Today we present Chapter Four of Clear & Cold Cinema's fatbike film, Cold Rolled. This chapter, MindSparks - Birth Of The SBR, traces the thought process behind creation of the SBR, a dedicated snow singletrack flow trail, as well as the physical process of creating the specialized equipment to keep Marquette's abundant snowfall ridable. -Kid
From filmmaker Aaron Peterson: I named the segment MindSparks in honor of my friend Aaron LaRocque of Mind Spark Cinema. I met LaRocque in spring 2012 when Trek sent he and Andrew Shandro to Copper Harbor, Michigan to create a promo film for Copper Harbor's designation as an IMBA ride center. I was shooting stills for the occasion and honestly had never thought about video. However after seeing the positive impact his edit had for the area, I knew I wanted to work in film to help tell the stories of our underserved region. Now, a little over year later, I'm neck deep in my first film. LaRocque has calmly replied to many panicked messages and calls along the way and I wouldn't have been able to do it without him.
Come back next Saturday for the final chapter of Cold Rolled: Marquette, Michigan's Snow Bike Route...

I love being outside. I prefer to ride on dirt. Or snow. If I was born a hundred years earlier I might have been a polar explorer. There's a great natural world out there to see, smell, taste, listen to, and experience. Life slows down out there and the distractions we've created will disappear if you let them. Give me a backpack and let me go.
