Good Luck Arrowhead 2015 Racers

Racers of the 2015 Arrowhead Ultra 135, we wish you the best of luck and a safe and meaningful ride.

Be strong physically but perhaps even more importantly, mentally.

If you are physically in danger do the right thing, but if you are just uncomfortable, make note of that and continue on and finish. Finish! FINISH!

Finishing is your goal.

If you are setting your goal as winning, or having a great finish, and your race starts to fall apart, THAT IS NOT REASON ENOUGH TO QUIT! If the race is not going the way you'd hoped, ADJUST your goal to the only goal that really matters: FINISHING. If you don't, you will have nothing but regrets and frustration afterwards. Trust me, I still do.

That's your free pep talk. It matters to me. I hope it matters to you. Now please go out and FINISH.

Here's an example of a guy that didn't give up and knows the deep feeling of true personal satisfaction and reward.

I love being outside. I prefer to ride on dirt. Or snow. If I was born a hundred years earlier I might have been a polar explorer. There's a great natural world out there to see, smell, taste, listen to, and experience. Life slows down out there and the distractions we've created will disappear if you let them. Give me a backpack and let me go.
