Introducing The Anything Cage HD

I'm pleased to introduce the Anything Cage HD, an evolutionary step in our bolt-on gear carrier product line.

The Anything Cage HD features a new design and is manufactured from injection-molded impact resistant nylon. Like it predecessor, the original Anything Cage, it mounts via our Three-Pack boss pattern, found on many of our forks.

The Anything Cage HD will ship with all necessary mounting hardware and also includes two nylon-webbing straps.

The Anything Cage HD has a 6.6 lbs cargo weight limit and weighs approximately 149 grams, minus hardware.

U.S. MSRP for the Anything Cage HD is $35.00.

Availability: A small number of Anything Cage HD are in stock and available for sale through QBP with increased availability in late January.

Salsa has had great success with the original Anything Cage and will continue to offer that product as well. These products have helped thousands of people carry water or gear on their bicycle adventures and have also increased their range of exploration. We’re sure the new Anything Cage HD will continue to further those outdoor experiences.

I enjoy anything with wheels, human powered or not. If I'm not in the BWCA with my wife and dog, you can find me working on my old house with varying degrees of success, or tinkering with my project car in the garage, beer in hand. Feel free to stop by! Random fact: Efred trained me in at my first bike shop job in 1998.

I am assuming that I would have to get a new fork for my Colossal 2 in order to use this cage.  If that is the case, which Salsa fork would be appropriate?

Any word on when the dry bags for the Anything Cage HD be available?

Yes! We will be releasing those late next week. Of note, they were made to fit both types of cage, not just the HD.

Stay tuned to the Salsa blog for more info!

So when and where can I get the HDs and bags?! Enough with the wait already!

These are definitely worth looking into! My main concern is after already breaking two of the anything cages awhile back on my Mukluk, I would like to know how durable is the HD version compared to the previous cage? Though I have 110% full confidence in you bikes (almost 5,000 miles on my 2013 Vaya with absolutely zero issues!), the accessories have been a costly disappointment.

Josh, the bags are in stock now at our distributor, Quality Bicycle Products. Talk to you local shop, and give them the part number BG8880, the should know what to do!

The cages themselves had a bit of a re-route due to the dockworkers strike. They took a short vacation to pass through the Panama Canal, instead of the usual Seattle port so they are a little behind schedule. I expect them here early next week, and will be posting when they arrive on the Salsa Facebook page.

Dave, sorry you had issues with your cages. Increasing impact resistance was one of the main goals for the HD cage, and I’m very confident in this product. It also passed our rigorous testing with ease. You will be impressed with the HD if you choose to re-order.

If the HD is not your thing, the second order of original Anything Cage was updated with more welding on the mounting plate, and the warranty rate is very, very low for that version. So either way, you are getting a solid product, just like your bike.

Andy, thank you for quick and reassuring response. Taking the advice you shared with a poster, I just ordred the HD through my LBS by providing the part number, and I am certain that I will be impressed!
