Part 5 - Chase the Chaise - Retirement

At the end of a wildly successful 2019 gravel season, The Chaise surprised us with the news that it planned to retire:

Chaise in the Badlands

“My springs are complaining a little louder, my wooden trim has been sanded down by countless hands. My fabric is faded by the sun, stained by sweat and…probably other stuff. My wooden feet are dented and dusty from countless hours of standing in America’s gravel.

I was never meant to do this forever. I’ve accomplished my mission to bring more gravel riders together and build something this incredible community of riders could collectively reminisce about. Over two years and 13 gravel events, I’m leaving the gravel scene better than I found it.”

Collage; all the cool places the Chaise has been, Mount Rushmore, Devil's Tower, the beach, city in front of sculpture

And so, we threw The Chaise a farewell party and watched it shuffle off into the sunset on its retirement journey across the U.S. The Chaise chapter was over.

Little did we know what was about to happen in 2020.
