I am pleased to announce that Salsa has taken on a Platinum-level sponsorship role in support of NICA’s new Adventure Program. Salsa is Adventure by Bike, and we firmly believe in the character building lessons, simple joy, and profound learning that can reached through non-competitive bicycle experiences. For the young people taking part in this program there is a great big world out there waiting for exploration, learning, and personal discovery, and we are stoked to help make it happen.
PRESS RELEASE: NICA Welcomes Salsa as Platinum Level Sponsor, in Support of Adventure Program
Platinum-Level Sponsorship Helps Launch New Adventure-Focused Program
BERKELEY, Calif. The National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) is pleased to welcome Salsa Cycles as a new Platinum Level sponsor in 2019. Salsa will be supporting the country’s largest and fastest growing youth cycling organization by providing funding to develop new adventure-focused programming for NICA student-athletes and coaches across the country.
Based out of Bloomington, Minnesota, Salsa Cycles is an international bicycle brand that is sold at specialty retailers. Salsa is dedicated to keeping the spirit of adventure alive in bicycling and is proud to join NICA as its Official Adventure Program Sponsor. Salsa has committed to providing funding over the next three years to support the development and launch of NICA’s new Adventure Program.
“At Salsa, we believe in adventure by bike, and in a future of great possibilities awaiting youth riders,” said Jessica Grenwis, Vice President of Marketing at QBP, parent company of Salsa Cycles. “We’re absolutely honored and excited to partner with NICA and to support the new Adventure Program. Together we’ll introduce more people to the transformation that comes with experiencing the world by bike.”
NICA Adventure is a new program that will be developed in 2019 with support from Salsa Cycles and leadership from a new NICA National Adventure Program Manager. NICA adventure enables all youth, those who are wired for competition and those who are not, to experience together the benefits of mountain biking, camaraderie, community, and the outdoors. With support from Salsa, this program will reinforce NICA’s core values while building health and strength, learning new skills, and being part of a team of like-minded people engaged in outdoor experiential education.
“We’re thrilled to work with Salsa Cycles to bring new, exciting programs to all our student-athletes and coaches across America. Salsa Cycles’ philosophy that a sense of adventure makes life better and their dedication to keeping the spirit of adventure alive in bicycling aligns well with our core values and 5-Year Strategic Plan. With student-athletes participation in NICA programs growing at over 20% annually, it’s important for us to diversify our programming to include activities that promote adventure, build community, teach respect for the outdoors and other trail users and are fun; ultimately enabling all our student-athletes to develop a lifelong passion for mountain biking and outdoor recreation.” said NICA President, Steve Matous.
In 2019, Salsa Cycles’ sponsorship will help support nearly 19,000 student-athletes that are participating in 27 state and regional leagues across the country. NICA is excited to have Salsa join the growing community of cycling industry companies that are supporting our efforts to get #morekidsonbikes!
