The All-New Journeyer

We launched Journeyman in 2018 with high hopes of introducing more people to gravel riding. We designed the bike to be accessible for newer riders yet plenty capable, taking cues from our Warbird gravel race bike and using aluminum tubing to keep the value factor high.

It took off more than we ever expected. We started seeing Journeyman everywhere: gravel races like Unbound Gravel and The Mid South; popular bikepacking routes; even locked up outside restaurants and grocery stores and offices. It seemed we were on to something.

Now our do-it-all gravel bike is back with a fully redesigned frame for better functionality and performance with all the value of the original. We also gave it a new name, Journeyer. We made this change based on feedback from our customers and retail partners. A journeyer is defined as “a traveler going on a trip, a wayfarer.” The Journeyer name is more inclusive and fits this bike perfectly.

What Else is New?

Geometry: Journeyer’s geometry focuses on stability for a more comfortable and confident ride. With a longer effective top tube, slacker head tube angle, and lower bottom bracket, Journeyer rides more like our other gravel and road models.

Journeyer also fits a wider range of riders. The three smallest sizes of Journeyer have shorter seat tubes and top tubes to better balance reach and stand over for smaller riders.

Axles: Journeyer is available in both thru-axle and quick-release options. Thru-axle frames and forks add stiffness for straighter tracking, and It’s a change that many customers asked for. All Journeyer thru-axle frames are SRAM UDH-compatible.

Forks: We’ve introduced three forks to the Journeyer line. This offers more choices at more price points.

  • Waxwing Carbon (thru-axle)
  • Fantail Deluxe aluminum (thru-axle)
  • Fantail aluminum (quick-release)

Dropper Post Routing: Journeyer now features internal routing for a dropper post.

Cargo Capacity: Journeyer offers slightly more in-triangle bottle capacity on sizes 53 cm and up so you can stay supplied on longer rides. In addition to two Three-Pack mounts on the fork, a top tube mount, under-down tube accessory mount, and rack and fender mounts, Journeyer fits:

  • 57 cm & 60 cm – Three bottles inside main triangle
  • 53 cm & 55 cm – Two bottles and Anything Bracket Mini inside main triangle
  • 51 cm – Two bottles inside main triangle

49 cm – One bottle inside main triangle

Design: We used hydroformed 6061-T6 aluminum tubing to give Journeyer a more refined look and feel.

What We Kept

Journeyer still comes in drop bar and flat bar options. You can still get one with 700c or 650b wheels (and change between wheel sizes later if you want).

You can still load it up for just about any adventure with front and rear rack mounts, top tube and down tube accessory mounts, and Three-Pack fork mounts.

You’ve got options: build it into your first gravel ride or race bike; go off on a tour; set it up as a supremely fun around-town ripper. You can’t go wrong when you choose your journey.
