Why MAHLE?

We use MAHLE hub-drive systems on select Salsa ebikes. Why? For more than a century, MAHLE has been developing everything from industrial-grade engines to filtration systems to electronics. They know their stuff, and they’ve channeled that expertise into building world-class hub-drive ebike systems.

The Experience

MAHLE focuses on integration and weight reduction, leading to ebikes that look and feel more like analog bikes. With a hub-drive motor, internal battery, and low-profile controller, MAHLE-equipped ebikes (like Confluence) carry minimal extra weight, offer low-drag, and look like a regular bike.

This Class 1 hub-drive ebike system produces lower-torque (40Nm) than mid-drive motors, resulting in a natural ride feel that’s perfect for new riders who are just finding their legs or seasoned cyclists seeking a subtle boost.

Want to keep the good times rolling? MAHLE’s range extender battery (sold separately) bolts to bottle cage mounts and can take the 250Wh battery to 458Wh. More miles, more fun. Nice.

The Tech

The MAHLE system is ANT+ and Bluetooth-compatible. Pair it with your cycling accessories or your smartphone (with MAHLE’s MySmartBike app) to unlock high-tech features:

  • Ride tracking and data
  • Guided mapping and route saving
  • Battery consumption information
  • Security
