Beargrease C XT
Beargrease C XT
Beargrease C XT blends the DNA of a fat-tire bike and a trail bike for a ride that devours groomed snow trails and more. The carbon frame and fork are lightweight and pair perfectly with Beargrease’s nimble geometry. Its 27.5 x 4.0″ tires are an unstoppable combo of rollover and float that open up new terrain. Mounts for bags, bottles, and racks make it easy to bring extra layers, snacks, or even camping gear — whatever you need for extended rides. Shimano’s time-tested XT 1 x 12 drivetrain has tons of gear range on tap, making this one of the best fat-tire bikes for both racing and roaming.

Additional Features
High-Modulus Carbon Fiber Frame
This material offers improved stiffness, better vibration damping, excellent durability, and weight savings compared to other frame materials
Beargrease Geometry
Completely redesigned frame and fork for 2019. 440mm chainstays, longer front/center, short stems, and wide bars create room to move and add confidence while maneuvering on tight trails. Standover height is improved, allowing the addition of a new XS frame size. This geometry results in a fat bike that rides like a trail bike. It is stable, steers well in loose conditions, and still remains nimble and agile despite the massive wheels and tires. A low bottom bracket height is also key, keeping the rider’s center of gravity low, and making dabbing, dismounting, and remounting easier.
27.5 x 4” Wheel & Tire Size
Beargrease rolls on 27.5 x 4” wheels and tires. For groomed snow or dirt, the increase in diameter provides increased rollover, a longer contact patch, and the flotation of a 5” tire without the added rolling resistance
Kingpin Deluxe Fork
Featuring a full carbon design, the Kingpin Deluxe Fork is lightweight and durable, and features an amazing array of accessory bosses to help you make the most of your Beargrease fat bike: Dual sets of Three-Pack bosses on each leg accept bottle cages or our Anything Cage accessory / Lowrider mounts work with our Down Under front rack for a traditional touring setup / Internal dynamo hub wire routing keeps the front end clean for those upgrading to dyno hubs / 150 x 15mm thru-axle design boosts stiffness and aids in solid tracking on the trail
Front Wheel & Tire Options
The fork included with this frame works with the following wheel and tire combinations: 26 x 3.8 - 5” on up to a 100mm rim / 27.5 x 3.0 – 4.0” on an 80mm rim / 29 x 2.3 – 3.0” on a 50mm rim
Rear Wheel & Tire Options
Beargrease Carbon is compatible with the following wheel, tire, and rim sizes: 26 x 4.3 – 4.6” on up to a 100mm rim / 27.5 x 3.0 – 4.0” on an 80mm rim / 29 x 2.3 – 3.0” on a 50mm rim
Optimal Drivetrain Design w/ Narrow Q-Factor Cranks
The Beargrease Carbon frame is designed for the best of all drivetrain performance while maintaining narrow fat bike crank arms for less knee stress: 197mm symmetrical rear end for modern rim/tire fit / 100mm threaded bottom bracket / Rider-friendly narrow Q-Factor cranks / 1x optimized frame design / Up to a 32t max chainring
Internal Sleeved Cable Routing
The Beargrease Carbon frame features fully sleeved, internal cable routing. This improves shifting performance in poor conditions, increases time between maintenance intervals, and makes running new cables and housing a breeze

FAQ
Can I run a front rack on this frame?
The Beargrease models that feature Kingpin Deluxe and Kingpin forks feature mid-blade mounts for Salsa Down Under Rack and Down Under HD rack compatibility.
Can I run a rear rack on this frame?
Yes, with the lower rack bosses in the frame and a Salsa 35.4 Rack Lock Seat Collar you can run the Salsa Alternator 170/177 rear rack. While the back end of the Beargrease is 197mm spaced, we designed the stays a narrow width for l heel clearance with big boots, thus it uses the Alternator 170/177 rear rack.
What width cranks will this frame accept?
Though the new frame features a 197mm rear spacing it is still compatible with narrow q-factor cranks designed around a 100mm threaded BB with a nominal 75mm chainline. Both Race Face and SRAM offer cranks like this.
Can I run a front derailleur on this frame?
No, we have designed the Beargrease around a 1x only setup with 32t max chainring. If you would like a fat bike with front derailleur compatibility, consider the Mukluk.
What wheel and tire sizes can I use on this frame?
The Beargrease is capable of running 27.5" wheels with tires 3.0–4.0" on up to an 82mm rim, as well as 26" wheels with tires 3.8–4.6" on up to a 100mm rims, and 29" wheels with 2.25–3.0" tires on up to a 50mm rims.
Can I use a suspension fork on this frame?
Yes, you can run any of the options from RockShox or Manitou that have an axle to crown of 511mm, an average 100mm fork, no adapters needed.
Do you offer touch-up paint?
No, we do not offer touch up paint. Hobby shops or automotive stores are excellent places to find paint. We suggest you test the paint on a scrap piece of metal before using it on your frame.
I crashed and dented (or cracked) my frame. Is it safe to ride?
Stop riding your frame immediately and take it to the nearest Salsa authorized dealer for inspection. A dented or cracked tube represents a structural weakening of the frame, and is a safety risk.
