Additional Features
6061-T6 Alloy Frame
Moraine’s aluminum alloy tubing is developed specifically for the Moraine frame, and is heat-treated to T6 alloy standards for extra strength and durability.
Split Pivot Rear Suspension
Split Pivot provides a host of impressive suspension characteristics because the system isolates pedaling forces and braking forces from each other, allowing us to tune and optimize the bike for both independently. The concentric rear axle pivot, in conjunction with precise wheel link, brake link, and control link placement, results in excellent bump compliance and pedaling efficiency, smooth and predictable braking throughout travel, and maximum traction.
Split Pivot+ Design Methodology
The Split Pivot+ design methodology allows our engineers to optimize a frame for more than one travel class. This means you can swap control and shock links, in addition to the rear shock and fork, for more or less travel. You can set up Moraine for 125—145mm of rear travel and a 140–160mm fork. One frame, multiple bikes.
Fazua Ride 60 Drive System
Moraine runs on Fazua’s Ride 60 drive system, a lightweight unit weighing in at just 9.2lb (4.2kg) yet delivering 60Nm max torque. Moraine’s mid-drive setup also keeps the motor’s weight low and centered on the bike for neutral handling. The Fazua Ride 60 is a Class 1 motor with electric assist up to 20 mph/32 kph.
60Nm max torque
The Fazua Ride 60 system delivers up to 60Nm of assist, with three customizable assist levels and a speed sensor to control torque output.
430Wh Internal Battery
The Fazua Energy 430 battery offers enough range to roam far on your favorite trail systems or into the backcountry. It’s also fully encased in the downtube for added stiffness and a nice, clean look.
Fazua Ring Controller
The handlebar-mounted Fazua Ring Controller lets you cycle through assist levels in an intuitive and minimalist way.
Flip Chip
Make simple, quick adjustments to Moraine's bottom bracket height (5mm) and head and seat tube angles (0.3 degrees) to account for your preferences, terrain, or wheel and tire size
Pack-Free Riding Features
Make simple, quick adjustments to Moraine's bottom bracket height (5mm) and head and seat tube angles (0.3 degrees) to account for your preferences, terrain, or wheel and tire size
Internal Routing
Internal routing for dropper and shift cable housing and brake hoses gives Moraine a clean look and helps keep cables from catching on the trail.
29 x 2.5" Tire Clearance
Hold your line on steep, loose terrain with clearance for large tires.
Molded Frame Protection
Take the “ding” out of riding with durable, custom-fit frame protection pieces in high-wear and damage-prone areas.
SRAM UDH Compatible
This derailleur hanger design optimizes shifting performance and makes it much easier to replace a bent or broken hanger.
FAQ
What is the Fazua Ride 60 mid-drive system?
Moraine uses the Fazua Ride 60 mid-drive system. This system features a motor built into the bike’s bottom bracket, powered by a battery in the bike’s downtube. The Fazua Ride 60 system delivers up to 60Nm of torque and is paired with a 430Wh Fazua Energy 430 battery. This is a Class 1 system that only provides electric assist up to 20mph/32kph.
For more information, visit our Why Fazua? page.
What is the range?
Ebike range depends on many factors, including rider and equipment weight, weather conditions, route choice, assist level, and more. The Fazua App provides real-time data on battery level and range
Want to go even farther on a single charge? The Fazua Energy range-extender battery (sold separately) mounts to the Moraine frame and can extend range by up to 58%.
Is the battery removable?
The battery is designed to be removed only by a bike shop for service.
How do I maintain my e-bike?
Maintenance on an ebike is mostly the same as any other bike, but keep these tips in mind:
- More torque and more miles = more wear: Electric assist puts more strain on components and empowers you to ride more miles, so parts like your chain, brakes, and tires may wear out faster than you’re used to. Check them frequently and replace as you would on any other bike.
- Washing is OK: The motor and battery on your ebike are sealed against water, so you can wash your ebike like you would a regular bike. However, avoid high-pressure hoses and keep the charging port closed to block moisture. Wipe down controllers rather than spraying them directly with water.
- Battery care: Your ebike’s battery will last longer if the bike is stored in a cool, dry place. If storing the bike for long periods of time, try to keep battery charged between 30–60%. The battery will gradually lose charge, so check it periodically and charge as necessary.
- Don’t try motor maintenance at home: If your ebike’s motor, battery, or other electronic components aren’t functioning properly, take them to your local authorized Salsa retailer for service — they are trained and best-equipped to maintain and repair ebike systems.
Is my ebike safe to keep in my home?
Yes. The batteries used in Salsa ebikes are UL 2849-compliant, meaning they have been tested to the highest standards of safety to prevent electrical shock or fires. Always use the manufacturer-supplied charger for your ebike.
Do you offer touch-up paint?
No, we do not offer touch up paint. Hobby shops or automotive stores are excellent places to find paint. We suggest you test the paint on a scrap piece of metal before using it on your frame.
I crashed and dented (or cracked) my frame. Is it safe to ride?
Stop riding your frame immediately and take it to the nearest Salsa authorized dealer for inspection. A dented or cracked tube represents a structural weakening of the frame, and is a safety risk.
