What's In A Name?

We named our carbon fat tire race bike after John Beargrease, a celebrated winter mail carrier on Minnesota’s north shore through the late 1800s. The son of a minor Anishinaabe chief, John Beargrease connected the North Shore to the rest of the world with his weekly deliveries. He often used dog sleds, horses, and boats on the difficult journey up the rugged coastline. Bear grease was also once a valuable commodity for cooking, weather-proofing, and lubrication.
